Penguins

Even PENGUINS have to go through the airport detector. This makes sense because you never know if they're going to sneak nail clippers on...

Awww, aren't they cute?

Off to bed, good night!

busy busy busy

Mona's bachelorette party was a success. I will put up some pictures once I have time to do so. This week has been VERY HECTIC. I had a few take homes/papers due and I have exams next week on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. You probably won't hear from me until after that. I can't wait until graduation on Saturday!

New Orleans

I have a lot to get done today before I leave for New Orleans tomorrow, which is why I'm taking time out to write a journal entry.

Here is the boat we'll be taking on the Mississippi:

Here is some French Quarter Architecture:

This is the Hilton-Riverside, where we'll be staying:

And here's a cute carriage on Bourbon (before it gets all crazy at night):

I love visiting New Orleans because it seems like a different country. Many people speak French and the nice areas look like a cross between cobblestone-Old America and bustling city-New America. Well, I better get to my TO DO list or I won't be going!

A few quizzes

From Heather's blog. I always thought I was more of a Francophile, I wonder if Paris was an option.

You Belong in London

A little old fashioned, and a little modern.

A little traditional, and a little bit punk rock.

A unique woman like you needs a city that offers everything.

No wonder you and London will get along so well.

What City Do You Belong in? Take This Quiz :-)

From Dan's blog. I guess I have a little "Yankee" and "Dixie" in me...

Mona's Bachelorette Party

In 5 days, I will be heading to sunny New Orleans for Mona's bachelorette party. I planned it since I'm in the wedding. It's an all-day event on Saturday. We're going on a riverboat on the Mississippi, then dinner, then heading to some clubs. I have to give myself a pat on the back since I'm very pleased with the itinerary. I love planning events and think I would make a great wedding planner/event planner. It must be all the experience I got from being external social chair for ADPi and then mixers chair the year after. I also bought crazy decorations and made THE best gift. As you can tell, I'm VERY excited for the weekend.

Matt said the funniest thing yesterday that I had to share. I tend to eat a variety of foods at lunch/dinner. Even though I eat small portions, it looks like I have so much food on my plate. Anyway, so Matt said "It takes a village to feed a Reena." hahah If you're not laughing, I guess you had to be there.

White Castle and Best Buy

I heard "Harold and Kumar go to White Castle" wasn't a bad movie despite the stupid title. So I gave it a try and it was really good. I think it was a good thing that I went into it with no expectations. It's a movie to see with friends when you have nothing to do, definitely not with parents, haha. I also liked how there was an Indian in the main role (the only other time I've seen that is in Ben Kingsley movies and Bend it Like Beckham). There were a lot of stereotypes that were challenged, but in a funny way, not in a serious, sad way. If anyone likes Scrubs, it's got that kind of humor in it.

On a sidenote, Best Buy looks stupid in this article. They wouldn't accept some guy's $2 bills, and went as far as to call the cops on him, who jailed him because they were "suspicious" of his legal tender. What idiots! I heard on The Office that technically, a stamp can be used because it is also considered legal tender. The show is based in England, so I don't know if it's just an English rule, but interesting nonetheless.

Graduation coming up

I got an A+ on one exam and a B on the other. I'm disappointed about my B because the exam was heavily curved and this kid next to me got an 88%, which is a solid A. I wouldn't be as disappointed if I knew I couldn't have done better, but 9 points were stupid mistakes. Ah well.

I bought my tassle and hood for graduation. I didn't have to buy a cap/gown because they use black and I still have my UofM one. The graduate gown has more fabric hanging on the sleeves, but I didn't think it was worth it to pay $50 extra dollars for the 2 seconds I'm on stage. I'm really excited though!

In good news for Mona, she and Sujith bought a HOUSE!!! I'm so excited for them. Their actual closing date is May 30th, but the house is all theirs!! CONGRATS!

For your viewing pleasure, I scored as Donatello.

You scored as Donatello. You are intelligent and peaceful...maybe you should consider going into a different line of work. Even though you are friendly, you should try to fit in with other more often.

Grad School is coming to close

I finished my paper about the correlation between music and mathematics. I just have to do a reference page and then it'll be ready to turn in on Wednesday when I have psych class. I finally got all of my graduation information. I'm supposed to pick up my cap/gown on Monday. I still have my black cap/gown from UofM, but because I'm graduating as a grad student I'm supposed to have a "hood" attached to my gown. UNL doesn't sell the hoods separately so I'm going to have to buy the whole outfit again! Colleges always try to find a way to take more money from you!
So in less than a month I'll be saying goodbye to Lincoln forever. It will be sad to leave my new friends and this place, but I'm ready to start a real job.

Exams are over until May

I had two exams yesterday. The first one was really easy, and the second one was the hardest exam I've taken in my graduate career. I figured I should go out with a bang, haha.
After the exams Matt and I went bowling, and I must have had a lot of energy and stress to let out because I bowled really well. I'm usually really inconsistent, and I'll get spares and strikes and then gutter balls for a while. Yesterday, I got a 95 and then a 123 on my second game, very un-Reenalike. I'm not sure if 123 is my personal best, but I'm going to count it as such since I don't remember getting a higher score. I had 5 spares in a row, it was out of control! Matt beat me on both games, but he always does .
Today I have my hard class and hopefully we don't get our tests back so I can have a good weekend!

Ribbon Tunic

I bought the black one in the back and it came this weekend!

Hitch

I finally got to see the movie "Hitch." It was a really cute romantic comedy. It was pretty predictable like most rom. comedies are. I knew what was going to happen as the movie was being played out, so much so that Matt was impressed. I think I've seen too many movies, either that or I'm really intuitive. I'm going to go with the latter. All in all, I think it was really cute and definitely a date movie or a movie to see with your girlfriends. Will Smith knows how to pick 'em...usually.

Besides the movie, this weekend went by way too fast. On Friday night, Matt had a moot court dinner that I went to with him. It was at the Starlight, one of our favorite hang outs. The dinner was held in a banquet room off from the main lounge.

The rest of the weekend I basically studied a ton. I have two exams on Thursday, and I'm hoping I'll do okay. After that it's smooth sailing until finals in May. And then I GRADUATE!!!!
