Sean's first haircut

Well, Sean has had a ton of haircuts at home since he was born with a full head of hair. However, yesterday, I took Sean for his first professional haircut at the Great Clips down the street. I felt it was time because Matt and I are not so great with the scissors and Sean's hair was becoming really thick and very unmanageable.
Some places don't let the child sit on the mom's lap, but this place let me do whatever I wanted. I had Sean on my lap and had to hug him the entire time since he was terrified. After a while he stopped clinging so much and just silently cried the rest of the time. I feel like it was a major milestone for us and now we don't have to worry about giving him a haircut for a few months, phew! Hopefully he becomes a bit more comfortable every time we go.

Iphone for Verizon

I can't believe I have an Iphone. I am always the last person to have a phone that is trendy. I didn't get a cell phone until junior year of college at the urging of my parents. I didn't have a color screen until grad school, and I didn't start texting until last year. I am currently activating my new phone as we speak. Now, how do I use this thing??

My second Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. Despite being uncomfortable from my 32 week belly, I really had a great day. Matt made reservations at Ocean Prime, which I was not expecting. The food was amazing- I ordered lobster and eggs with a side cobb salad. Matt had blueberry french toast with a side salad, and Sean had Macaroni and Cheese shells with skinny fries. Yum!

Matt bought me a diaper bag that I had been wanting for a little while. It is supposed to be bigger than my old one and should be plenty big for two kids- Mine is in purple.



I napped while Sean napped, which was glorious. Sleeping is up there on my list of favorite things to do, hehe. Since the weather was gorgeous, we sat outside in the backyard on our new patio chairs and just enjoyed being a family of three.

Two years ago, on Mother's Day, I was pregnant with Sean. Last year, I had a 10 month old. This year I have a 22 month old and am 8 months pregnant. Next year we will be a family of four. These past few years have been ever changing and I can't wait to celebrate Mother's Day with two kiddos.

22 months!

Eating at Astoria
Sean has been speaking new words every day. I don't think I can count how many words he can say! Lately he has been putting words together like More Cheese, or Mommy and Daddy. His enunciation is a little off so a few words like blush and brush sound the same, or duck and dog.

He has been sick off and on since he started school and it is really sad to see him cough or get real tired when all he wants to do is play. I am going to add a pillow to his crib to help him sleep at an angle and am thinking of leaving it there, even after he gets better, to get him used to it. I was going to get a toddler bed, but he has been such a good napper and so content in his crib, now that we added a crib tent, that I am in no rush to move him.

Sean loves to play outside and dance. His teachers even comment what a great chicken dancer he is! Whether we stay at our house or move, Matt and I have decided to get him some fun outdoor toys for the backyard, such as a slide and t-ball set, so he can expend some of that unlimited energy!

Sean wants to read books constantly and tells us the next line in his favorite books. He loves stacking blocks and scooting his stool around to get things on higher shelves. Currently, we are working on numbers and Star Wars characters (Matt's influence there). So far we haven't had any temper tantrums, but I can see the "terrible twos" creeping up as he resists bedtime and has selective hearing when I ask him to do something.

He is a great eater and is starting to develop a sweet tooth ever since the Easter Bunny brought him lots of candy treats. We can take him to restaurants and actually EAT our food while Sean eats and plays in his booster the whole time. He especially loves the Somerset food court and watching the "show" at Benihanas.

Happy 22 months Sean. We can't wait to see what next month will bring!

Ding Dong The terrorist is dead

I think the death of Osama bin Laden is worthy of a post. It has been almost a decade since the USA started to track him down. It is a victory for our nation and the world that he is no longer with us. While I am happy he cannot do any harm anymore, I hope the celebrations are not to rejoice over someone's death, but to congratulate the military units and President Obama who stepped up their intelligence and efforts to track Osama down. I hope this sends out a statement to terrorist groups and the rest of the world that GOOD people do prevail.

And that is worth celebrating!
