Tgiving Festivities

Thanksgiving came and went. I really loved being able to relax up north. I'm getting ahead of myself though. The day before Tgiving, we had dinner with my family. My dad had come from India the day before. We had some yummy Chinese and hung out. It was nice having a shortened workweek. I haven't had that yet since starting in July.
Going up north with the Hersteins was relaxing. Having absolutely nothing to do was a great feeling. We watched movies, played games, and shopped. There weren't a lot of stores to choose from but I am not a real big Black Friday shopper. I did find the cutest slippers at Old Navy and some warm pajamas, both great, cheap finds. Kohls' line was unbelievable, even in Gaylord. The line wrapped around the whole store. We watched Enchanted, a very cheesy but very cute movie. I liked Amy Adams in Drop Dead Gorgeous and Catch me if you Can but she's still a small name, which was perfect for the part. I was not on my phone or the internet, sooo nice!
On Saturday we met up with friends in Pontiac for dinner. Because Matt and I had gone straight from Gaylord to Pontiac- a 3 1/2 hour drive we pretty much just left the restaurant and went to bed.
Sunday I got a lot of online shopping done. We only have about 4-5 people left to shop for. I need to start writing x-mas cards though!
Work was sluggish today. It's hard to go back to the routine after a long weekend. Here's hoping tomorrow is more productive!

Holidays

From Heather's blog:

You Should Be a Politician

Confident, assertive, and dedicated - you know what you want in life and how to get it.
Stubborn and opinionated, you can stand your ground... even if it's unpopular.
And while you have strong views, you never overwhelm people with your opinions.
A true charmer, you subtly influence people into seeing things your way.

You do best when you:

- Work according to your own rules
- Can change the world with what you do

You would also be a good lawyer or talk show host.

I do think I am all those things but...no thanks, I do not like most politicians. One of my coworkers told me that she thinks I'm such a calm person. I must be really good at appearances because deep down (and my family knows this) I am totally type A and am always thinking a mile a minute. I think it's better to act in control and calm than frantic at work!

Also we're doing Secret Santa in the Acct dept; I am really excited about this. I haven't done Secret Santa in years! I also found several people who like sushi so we're going to go out for sushi next week before Thanksgiving break. I love the holidays!

Switching religions, Happy Diwali to all! Matt and I are taking my mom and brother out to Outback Steakhouse tomorrow, Yum! (Dad is in India visiting grandma).

A lot of people can't wait for snow... I don't think I'm ready for winter if I'm already feeling cold with high 40s as our temperature.

Go Blue article, Dad out of the country

Article from Brian

UM vs State article

Go Blue! I was worried in the 3rd quarter when our defense decided not to play, but luckily we pulled it off.

In other news, my dad is flying to India today to see his mother. Usually we book the KLM flight through Amsterdam, but India has an international airline (used to be domestic only) called Jet Airways that started a few years ago. Indian Americans go to India all the time so it's about time India makes some money from it. They go through Brussels, but my dad said it's a mechanical stop so he's not sure if they're even getting off. What a LONG flight that will be. He will be coming back on the 20th.
