It is at Flemings Steakhouse. One of the partners had Matt take me out because he was impressed with Matt's commitment to a particular case he was trying. Anyways, I ordered the scallops small plate and the modern Caesar salad. The scallops were great and the salad was AMAZING. It had prosciutto chips and fried capers that went perfectly with the traditional flavors. Yum! Matt ordered the monk fish. Our waiter said it was called that because monks ate them a lot, but it actually tastes like lobster! This was our second time at Flemings and we will be going back again sometime.

The big 3-0
I turned 30 on October 17th. On October 16th, my parents came over to watch the kids so Matt and I could go out to eat. I had been craving Mongolian BBQ throughout my pregnancy so I finally got to go. The food and sauces are completely different from the last time I went. I think I did a pretty good job with my dish. Matt bought me pajama jeans for my birthday gift. I have been wanting a pair and can't wait to try them out.
The day of my birthday was a Monday so I took the kids to our weekly playgroup. My friends are so sweet; they all sang Happy Birthday as we walked in to Julie's house. What a nice surprise! Later that afternoon, I got another surprise! Flowers were delivered to me from Matt and were waiting on the doorstep! That evening, Matt brought home a purple cake. Sean liked that gift the best =)
Ready to go out
That night, Brad gave us the best present. He slept through the night with no feedings. What is really strange about that is Sean did the exact same thing on my birthday two years ago. I blogged about it here: Reena En Vie: Birthday Weekend

Ocean Prime

Matt and I went out for my birthday dinner to Ocean Prime. I highly recommend this place for romantic dinners. It was great having a night out with my hubby after a long time. We had cheese fondue for an appetizer and I had scallops and short ribs for my meal. The most intriguing part of the meal was my martini, the black orchid. I had Matt email me the ingredients from his bb because I want to try and concoct it at home.

Pistons Game and Car Seat
We went to the Pistons game last Sunday. While we were getting our bags checked, the guy taking my ticket told me that I had to dispose of the water bottle in my purse. Then seeing that I was pregnant, he waved me in and said "Never mind, you're fine." Oh the perks of being pregnant! Honestly, I need water ALL the time so it was nice that I didn't have to throw it away just to buy another bottle 5 minutes later.
Since we were at the Palace, we decided to get Jay Leno tickets for his second show. It will be cool to see him perform live if I'm up for it. I am feeling fine but longer car rides are another story.
I FINALLY found the car seat/stroller combination that I want. After months of reading reviews, asking around, looking at colors and safety ratings, I went with the Graco SnugRide Platinum. Here is the car seat:

It is black and champagne, affordable, and most importantly got an A across the board in crash tests and certifications. I heard the infant carrier is only good for about 6-9 months so I'll have to get a bigger carseat/stroller later.
I start the third trimester next week- bump picture coming soon!

Fiddler on the Roof
Yesterday we went to see Fiddler on the Roof at the Detroit Opera House. I have been wanting to see this since my high school performed the musical when I was a sophomore. The songs are amazing and I think that is what makes it so popular. The play featured Topol, the original Tevye, in his last tour. I was a little skeptical of a 74 year old playing the role, but he was amazing and I assume the reason for the shows being sold out.
And the Detroit Opera House is one of the few glorious buildings in the city where you can tell it was built in Detroit's heyday. I have been there several times but it never fails to impress me and I can't imagine how impressive it really was in the 20's and before. I always have love for Detroit, although it is somewhat of a wasteland now, but I hope someday the city will be just like the Opera House - beautiful and something worth seeing.

Disney Trip
We had a wonderful time in Disney with Matt's family. I am really sad to be home. I had been to Disney World many times growing up, but the last time I went was in 2003. I hope to take our little one in a few years again so he can enjoy Disney too. We bought the cutest outfit with a baby Mickey on it for him to wear in the summer!
My favorite part about Disney was eating at all of the fantastic restaurants. A few favorites were Ohana and California Grill where Matt and I spent our 3rd anniversary overlooking the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Below is us at our anniversary dinner.
There were so many rides and attractions I hadn't been on. I couldn't ride the Mt Everest Ride or Mission Space so I'll have to do that the next time I go. I really liked the Toy Story ride and Soarin'. I also now appreciate the slow-moving water rides and spinning rides (like Astro-Orbiter) because it was very relaxing to feel weightless while being 6 months pregnant.

Happy Birthday Matt!
Today is Matt's birthday so I have to say Happy Birthday to the best husband in the world! We went out to Melting Pot last night. We were lucky to have made it after the snowstorm. The roads weren't that bad but our street (which may not be plowed for a while) has a good 6-8 inches of snow on it and we got stuck several times. Luckily a very nice neighbor came out and helped us push the car and we were on our way!
