Bye US, Hello Mexico

I'm starting to pack! I can't wait to go here! I keep thinking of some last minute questions I need to ask my parents. I haven't been on a plane since June which is a little ridic. Ok back to packing - and watching Lost on Tivo of course.

My new phone!!!

Yeah I got a new phone and it's so pretty!

I have a LG Chocolate phone in Blue Ice. I've only had a nice phone once and I lost it within a month a few years ago. I usually never lose things so it was a big shock when I lost my phone. It was really sad and since then I have not wanted to get a nice phone in fear of losing it. So, except for that horrible month, I have been getting whatever free phone was included at the time I have signed my contract since sophomore year of college. I have decided that I am ready for a somewhat nice phone now and make sure I WON'T LOSE IT! I really wanted the blackberry pearl, but that required me to get a plan that was at least $79.99. Psssht, yeah right. Here is my new, pretty phone:

I'm going to play around with it for a while and make sure I understand all the buttons. My Ipod Mini died yesterday, I'm surprised it lasted this long. So it's nice that this phone has an mp3 player. I am very excited to start new with a new company, phone, and phone number. I also get a discount on top of the $39.99 monthly fee just because my company is on their list for a corporate discount... nice!

My cell phone is inactive

My cell officially stopped working yesterday. This is a good sign. Sprint actually followed through and ended our contract on the day we agreed upon. Tomorrow I am possibly getting a cell phone. I feel like it might be a waste to buy it now since I would just leave it here while I'm in Mexico. It would be one week in Michigan without a phone and if I have an emergency- my car has OnStar so I could just use that if I had to. But then I might not have time to go get a phone after the trip because the weekend after we have things planned all three days. hmmm...
Matt went out to get traveler's cheques for Mexico just now. We're going to pay mostly with pesos after we exchange cash, but it's nice to have the cheques in case anything gets stolen and we can cancel them and recover the cash. My parents said that using a credit card is the last resort because they charge a 3% service charge every time you use it. So we're only going to use it (hopefully) when we check out and pay for the room charges. The room is already paid for with the timeshare fees.
Tonight we're having our own pseudo V-day by going out to Kona Grill. I eventually want to try everything on the menu, which could take years because it's pretty extensive. With our anniversary so close to V-day we don't really celebrate Valentine's. Matt unexpectedly bought be a card and placed it where my keys are so I saw it before I went to work on Thursday. How sweet! I think on our actual anniversary, which will take place in Mexico coincidentally, we are going to go out to a nice mexican meal! Other activities we want to try are a tequila tour (apparently this is the only area in the world where tequila is made), ziplining/canopy tour, and possibly a day cruise.

I am not sick, I am not sick, I am not sick

My sore throat came back to haunt me this morning. I was sick for a week or so a few weeks ago and I thought it was gone. I took some NyQuil and am to be knocked out soon with the hopes of waking up tomorrow completely healthy. Good night!

2/9

I am super excited for Puerto Vallarta now that it's 2 weeks away! I've been doing research on restaurants and things to do. Our hotel looks AMAZING; I am glad I'm finally going to see my parents' timeshare. I bought 2 dresses on gojane.com thanks to Lisa telling me about the site. These are it:

I am going to use some of my dresses too but I figured I should buy a few more so it doesn't look like the same trip as my honeymoon in the pictures! Gojane sells overstock items so they are very affordable! I am not going to buy a dress for a while. I think I will wear the black one to Erin's wedding in May. I've always wanted to be the "lady in red" but the red dresses I looked at were not subtle and I don't really like to draw too much attention.

Matt and I went to McCormick and Schmick's restaurant near Somerset South. We both had mahi mahi although they were different meals. The food was excellent. I also ordered a small lobster bisque soup for an appetizer which was yummy! Matt didn't feel well during the last part of our meal (not because of the food, it started before the restaurant) so we cut our evening short and came home.

I am not looking forward to -15 windchill the whole day tomorrow. We're eating lunch with the parents and Ashwin at Applebees. I'm going to make sure I wear like 8 layers to stay warm!

Yesterday was Mona's b-day so a big birthday shout-out to her from the blog :)

Who should I vote for? No more Sprint!

From Heather's blog:

Who You Should Vote For

Mitt Romney: 60%

Hillary Clinton: 53%

John McCain: 53%

Barack Obama: 47%

Mike Huckabee: 40%

Ron Paul: 27%

Darn I wanted Ron Paul! haha

We FINALLY got out of our sprint contract!!! Technically, it ends Feb 14th. Matt will use his work cell as his cell phone. He has Verizon which works pretty well in the house, but I'm also looking at ATT/Cingular because they have better plans and phones. I wonder if there's a way to test-drive a phone in the house somehow...Anything will be better than Sprint- which didn't work in our house or my office.

Tonight for dinner, we're trying a new Indian place- obviously this is Matt's idea.

Snow

I tried driving to work at 7:30. After taking 20 minutes to get about 2 miles and swerving while making turns, I proceeded to come back home. I'm going to try again closer to 10am. Royal Oak and a bunch of other cities have declared snow emergencies so there's a lot of plows out right now. I hope to get into work and stay for at least 3-4 hours and then come back home. I'm not behind in my work but I don't want to get behind with my vacation coming up in 3 1/2 weeks!

In other news, Matt and I bought tickets to the Lion King. The shows in Detroit are all sold out so we got tickets in Toledo during a weekend in March. We got really good seats. We're in the first center section on the floor. I heard it's a great show to see. I haven't seen an off Broadway show in a while. I saw a few shows at the PowerCenter last year, but I'm slacking on being cultured!

Well I'm going to check the traffic cams on Fox and possibly head to work in the next half hour!
