Three Weeks

I can tell Sean is gaining weight because every day I hold him he feels a bit heavier. We had a few nights where Sean only woke up once, but I think it was just a fluke! He has a ravenous appetite and LOVES being held above anything else. We went to Target the other day and several people gushed at how cute he was. I had to agree! Here he is with his favorite distraction- his bassinet mobile.

I can't wait to...

-hear Sean laugh.

-see Matt and Sean play sports together.

-sleep through the night, even if it means getting 5-6 hours of sleep.

-stop breastfeeding. I know it's good for the baby but I would like to not have to do it every few hours which leads into-

-drink wine whenever I feel like it.

-take Sean somewhere, just the two of us. I started driving last weekend! But I can't lift his car seat for another month!

Two Weeks

Sean is now two weeks! He is supposed to go back up to his birthweight by this age, which was 7 pounds even. At his pediatrician appt yesterday, he weighed in at 7lbs 6oz! He made his parents proud! I was a little worried about the weight because he's been spitting up often, but I guess it's just part of being a newborn.

I have lost 13 pounds since Sean's birthday. Besides labor/delivery, I feel breastfeeding has helped me shed the weight faster. I do still have about 20 more pounds to go, but I think it's going to take several months since I can't start working out until mid-August.

Sean recognizes me now! He'll look at me when Matt is holding him. Here is Sean and Matt. Sean loves listening to Matt's voice; he was like this in utero as well.

Sean's first time in his crib. He still sleeps in the bassinet or pack and play. He looks so small in here!

One Week

I can't believe Sean is one week old. I feel like we were just in the hospital! Sean had his pediatrician appt yesterday and the doctor said he was doing great.

Here is a picture of my little angel sleeping

Announcing Sean Matthew Herstein

Announcing Sean Matthew Herstein! Born July 5th at 11:23pm, 7lbs even, 21 ¾ inches. Matt and I are so in love with our new baby. He is the most beautiful thing in the world. It is crazy to think that we are parents, very surreal.

We are still in the hospital but expect to get discharged soon. Pictures to follow!

Happy 4th of July!

Yay for the 4th of July- my favorite holiday! I woke up with mild contractions and they ended up going away by the afternoon. We went over to my parents' house for July 4th festivities. My dad grilled lamburgers (yes lamb) and chicken burgers and we had several side dishes, including my dad's famous corn on the cob, which Matt is a huge fan of. I made a 4th of July "stars and stripes" cake and potato salad to add to the smorgasbord of food! Usually, I like going to the lake or a pool and getting together with friends, but this year it was much better hanging out with my parents and brother.

Last night my contractions picked up and are still going. They are getting QUITE painful and 8-10 mins apart. I called my doctor and she said that I should wait at home and go in when they are 3-5 minutes apart or my water breaks. It can take a few hours up to a few days! Matt and I are going to keep busy today and walk around downtown RO, walk around one of the parks, and see a movie - not necessarily in that order! I am not getting my hopes up just in case these contractions disappear too.

I hope everyone had a WONDERFUL Independence Day. Happy Birthday America!

Baby's Due Date, No Baby =(

******Update: I'm back from my appt. I don't have an induction date but the doctor said that at my next appt we will set it up so my induction will be sometime next week. I got an ultrasound to make sure everything was fine. There was enough amniotic fluid and baby is just too comfortable! It was ridiculously hard to see any body parts this time because they were so big! I thought I was looking at his face and the technician said that was just his eye socket! Matt and I are going to celebrate the due date tonight by going out to a nice dinner!******

I have an appt in a few hours. I am wondering if the doctor will schedule an induction date. At least then there is an end in sight and hopefully baby still decides to come before that. Even though I am anxious, I have been feeling great, physically. I sleep well and feel rested when I wake up. Matt and I have been taking long walks and I have lots of energy! I wish I felt like this the past few months instead of just the past few weeks!
