Working, housewarming, up north, benihana's

Boo, our phones are down. The internet started working a few minutes ago. We've had two power outages from all of the storms this past week. The outages have only lasted a few minutes, but then our phone/internet takes a while to crank back up. I heard it's all the remnants from the past few hurricanes/tropical storms, but Michigan always has storms in late summer. I really love them!

I'm really liking my job; I've been working for Friedman for almost a month. I had a few back problems from sitting at a desk 8 hours a day, which I'm not used to at all. I had to get a keyboard rest and a monitor stand. I didn't even know these things existed, but the HR dept was really nice to help out.

I had a housewarming/get together with friends. Everyone loved the house and we had a good time. Here's a pic: Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Thanks for the bunny ears!

Last weekend, we had a very relaxing trip up north. We played golf with the Hersteins and celebrated their anniversary. I played 18 holes for the first time. I even parred a hole!!

My brother took the MCATs last Monday and my dad had a birthday so we went out and celebrated at Benihana's last night. Sab, Walter and the kids came so we went to the Benihana's in Northville. I had a blue moon drink with sake in it, sooo good. I ordered hibachi scallops. I always order the chicken, but I guess I hadn't been to benihana's since my scallops obsession! It was yum! Japanese food (including sushi) is on my top 3 list of types of foods I like.

Facebook article

We went to the Tigers game last minute yesterday night. One of the partners in Matt's law firm invited us so we couldn't say no. It looked like we were going to come back after falling way behind. But that was short-lived and we lost after using at least 4 pitchers. It was the pitching that sucked, b/c our batters were fine.
We're going to my parents' financial planner's party today. It's supposed to be off the hook b/c the guy is loaded and has tons of food, drinks and activities set up on his estate in Milford. We can't stay too long because I'm having a little housewarming/get together tonight for friends.

Interesting article: Facebook is for more educated. It's true that my facebook friends are virtually all college educated (unless they dropped out and are now computer people). And the friends I have on Myspace have friends that didn't go to college. I never noticed that before. The only reason why I never started a myspace account is because the profiles are crazy-looking and disorganized, the bad rep it gets from employers, and that whole thing about online predators...
I also like how facebook has networks for work so I can link to the brokerage firm I work with, etc.

Acquistions to Our House

My job is going well so far. I'm going out after lunch to start my business attire collection. I think I'm going to get a few shirts and a pair of pants to start. I think that with what I have now should hold me for a while. I have a lot of nice sweaters that I could wear in the winter, but not now. Although half of my sweaters are now going to be used for after work or weekends because they're too casual.
I'm also going to the library. I had a few books on hold, but because I've been so busy, I'm sure they're back on the shelves or checked out by now. I hope at least one book I want to read is there. I don't think Royal Oak has a good library, so I'm going to keep going to the Troy one. They have no idea that I don't live in the city anymore!
In awesome news, Matt and I bought a Toshiba HD LCD TV. It had amazing reviews and we've been talking about it for a while because our "big tv" was a 25 inch. So we upgraded to a 42" and put the 25" in the bedroom (replacing our 19"). All in all, I am very happy with all the switching taking place. Here is our new tv:

After installing it, we had to watch a movie. The difference is unbelievable!

In other buying news, we bought this relief a little while ago from Bombay Company. It's in our den:
